Trading and exchanging gives participants a head start learning negotiation skills and accountability.
Communal task cards represent life skills that people can trade/barter with others in the family e.g.(walking the dog, doing the dishes, take out the recycle bin, do the laundry, vacuum). All of these skills are essential to becoming an independent fully functioning adult.
The ability to interchange these cards will depend on age appropriateness of the task in question.
If someone in the family does not feel like doing something, it is OK to barter with another family member and exchange cards if it suits both parties. This will help them learn to appreciate others efforts and the weight of a given task.
